LEI Worcester Website
The Latino Education Institute (LEI) at Worcester State University (WSU) was founded in 2000, growing from the Worcester Working Coalition for Latino Students (WWCLS) established in 1999. The WWCLS aimed to improve educational outcomes for Latinx students in Worcester, leading to the creation of the LEI to address this mission.
The challenge with creating the LEI Worcester website was to show the all encompassing nature of the far-reaching work the LEI does, yet have it all tied in visually with the Latino heritage and roots of the LEI. With the upcoming 25th anniversary of the LEI, the site includes a timeline and impact numbers to highlight their achievements to sponsors, donors, and the community.
We organized the site into four main sections: About, Impact, Donate, and Programs, ensuring the content flowed logically and in a meaningful way for the varied audience. The visual content was a delight to work with. The LEI had a treasure trove of beautiful meaningful people photos, in action, and in the community. The site features vibrant photos of LEI’s work, illustrating their innovative programs that close the opportunity gap for Latinx students from elementary school to college and beyond.
Visually, the website reflects how LEI empowers youth, adults, and families through education, health, college readiness, and civic engagement, all rooted in their shared Latinx identity. The site proudly showcases LEI’s heritage, and collective growth and success.
